How accessible is our School Environment ?

Tuke School is a purpose built school on Daniel Gardens, south of Burgess park, Southwark. The school building, all on one level, is a safe and secure environment that is accessible to everyone within it.

Our classrooms all have access to the outside areas. Specialist equipment, such as height adjustable/ tilt tables , cookers and work surfaces are available for use. All classrooms include accessible computer equipment that can be accessed via a touch screen, keyboard or by using switches. The key stage areas are self contained in terms of personal hygiene and students equipment storage facilities.

Our specialist teaching areas include:

  • Hydrotherapy suite,
  • Art and design studios,
  • Music studio and garden,
  • Food technology rooms
  • Physical exploration area with trampoline and interactive technology.

Our school has very wide corridors and door frames allowing ease of access around the school for all. Our hygiene rooms have a sensory capacity allowing students to make choices of sound and colour lighting when entering. Every teaching space has an overhead hoist that covers all areas of the room. All class rooms have sensory lighting functionality. There is a sensory trail through the circulation space that will enable students to find their way around the building.
